If you are turning 65, the best time to connect with me is at least 6-9 months before your 65th birthday, you do not want to risk any penalties or gaps in your health care coverage.
There will never be a charge for my services for you, which include:
If you are currently enrolled in Original Medicare, you can apply for a Medicare Supplement Insurance ('Medigap') plan at any time. These plans will cover the "gaps" in coverage of Original Medicare, like copays, coinsurance and deductibles. There are no networks with Medigap plans, so you have the freedom to go to any doctor or hospital in the U.S. that accepts Medicare, which is currently over 98%.
I'll provide you with competitive quotes on plans from the top insurance companies in the state, their rate-increase histories & each company's financial rating - all important factors when you are making a Medicare supplement plan decision.
Remember, the lowest premiums & guaranteed issue for Medicare supplement occur when you are first eligible for Medicare, this is referred to as your 'initial enrollment period'.
If you are enrolled in Medicare Part A & Part B, you can join a Medicare Advantage Plan, sometimes called 'Part C' or an 'MA plan'. Medicare Advantage plans are Medicare-approved private health plans that offer an alternative to Original Medicare Part A & B. Medicare Advantage plans offer low premiums to beneficiaries open to using the plans guidelines & network of providers. These plans typically include extra benefits, such as prescription drug coverage, vision & dental preventative care.
Most every county in Kentucky & Indiana has a number of top-rated Medicare Advantage plans to choose from. We'll research the best plans available in your area based on your needs, review the differences in coverages & networks, ensure plan networks include your medical providers & a drug formulary (Part D coverage) to cover your prescriptions.
Medicare Advantage plan networks, costs & coverages, etc. typically change annually. We'll review your plan towards the end of every year for any upcoming changes & determine if you want to keep it or switch to another plan that better suits your needs in the new year.
Special Needs Plans (SNP) enroll people who are entitled to Medicare & have certain healthcare needs or who also have Medicaid. Special Needs plans are a type of Medicare Advantage plan & most come with $0 premiums, copays, and deductibles.
So, what exactly does it take to qualify for SNP? You may be eligible for a SNP if:
1) Dual Eligible
2) Chronic Condition
3) Institutional
Contact me to discuss eligibility criteria & the SNP plans available in your area.
Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, also known as Part D, are optional outpatient prescription drug benefits for people with Medicare. You can choose to enroll in a Part D drug plan to supplement your Original Medicare coverage or if your Medicare Advantage plan does not include an outpatient prescription drug plan. These plans cover a wide range of prescription drugs & pay for a significant amount of their costs.
In general, you can only change your Part D plan during Medicare open enrollment, which is October 15 through December 7th each year. Plans will change their pricing & drug formularies every year, so you will have to shop & compare your options during this time or just contact me to request a competitive comparison of the Part D plans available to you that meet your prescription needs.
Even if you do not currently take prescription drugs, you should consider signing up for a Part D plan when you are first eligible, due to a government late enrollment penalty if you join past your initial eligibility window without maintaining credible prescription drug coverage.
You can combine dental, vision and hearing benefits into one organized insurance plan. Many plan benefits include no waiting periods for routine dental exams, cleanings, preventive vision & hearing exams. Contact me to review the highly rated & cost-effective plans available in Kentucky & Indiana.
